Sweden: Arabs have more trouble getting work

A new study carried out by Radio Sweden with fake job applications confirms that male residents here with Middle East family names have a much harder time finding employment or getting called in for job interviews - even if they were born in Sweden, speak the language well and have higher education degrees from Swedish schools.

Suspicions against women with Middle Eastern names is less pronounced.

Although some spokesmen in Swedish commerce and industry insist there is no discrimination against those coming from Arabian countries, Iran, Somalia or other nations in the region, observers here claim that there are strong suspicions that men from the Middle East could be more troublesome in the work force or even be connected to terrorist networks.
